Research Associate

Job description:

The Market Research Consultancy (MRC) partners with researchers, marketers, and content creators worldwide in the development of promotional strategies and external communications. We specialize in offering an in-depth research, consultation, and bespoke data-driven content development service. Our primary research areas include economic, capital, and product markets. The MRC is uniquely positioned within Franklin Templeton as the only group focused on offering a consultative research service focused on informing promotional strategy and developing bespoke data-driven content for external use

Responsibilities:

• Research and analyze financial data extracted from leading financial applications to develop illustrative content for use in marketing materials
• Originate investment and financial content rooted in quantitative theory and rigor
• Research and analyze financial websites to obtain appropriate statistics
• Implement scalable solutions using ETL processes, appropriate database structures, data mining techniques and data visualization tools like Tableau
• Applications used include: Morningstar Direct, FactSet, Thompson Reuters, Bloomberg and financial/economic websites
• Implement technology solutions and automate marketing content materials

The Ideal candidate has: 

• Educational background in finance/mathematics/econometrics
• 1-3 of work experience in the Mutual Fund/Financial Services Industry
• Strong Excel and Access skills is a must (including VBA)
• Prior experience with BI tools preferred (e.g. Tableau, Alteryx)
• Strong technical skills preferred
• Experience with R or other scientific computing language preferred
• Comfortable working in a global environment
