The Global Shared Services (GSS) organization within DNV GL provides high quality, cost effective services and processes within Human Resources, Finance and IT, based on requirements defined by the business areas and Group. Local Unit & Position Description

The Global Shared Services (GSS) organization within DNV GL provides high quality, cost effective services and processes within Human Resources, Finance and IT, based on requirements defined by the business areas and Group. GSS also develops central competence for distinct services, projects and development and will support policy, procedures and system implementation on a global, regional, and local level.

GSS IT is the internal IT organization, responsible for delivering a wide range of IT capabilities and capacities to the business areas, corporate units and end users worldwide. The IT departments constitute approximately 400 employees in an organization of 15,000 employees worldwide. In GSS IT, you will find excellent development opportunities.

Data Ingest Engineers

DNV GL is in the middle of a digital transformation, as are the industries we operate in. As part of an initiative to accelerate this process, we will build and scale analytic competence to further develop our Big Data-enabled analytic platform. Join our team to leverage Big Data capabilities to transform our global services across the maritime, oil and gas, energy, and life science (food and health) industries. These capabilities include data ingest, IoT (internet of things), machine learning, data lake, streaming analytics using Microsoft Azure (Cortana Intelligence Suite) and the Hadoop eco system.

As our Data Ingest Engineers you will join a team that runs complex projects, transforming existing and developing new digital services and tools across all of DNV GL’s industries. We are looking for candidates who are passionate about building effective data ingest solutions, supporting application innovation and tools, and who can combine a good understanding of the system as a whole with deep knowledge and experience with key components and tools in the chain.

Job description:

• Develop Data Ingest Services based on Informatica and / or Microsoft (Azure) platform;
• Monitor and operate Data Ingest Services running on Informatica or Microsoft technologies;
• Daily support related to data ingest services;
• Take active part in improving and developing the data ingest services further;
• Working closely with our customers – both internally and externally – and providing direction and advises;
• Work close with the rest of GSS IT’s global data ingest team including colleagues working with business analytics, enterprise application integrations and master data management.

Position Qualifications

• IT support experience;
• University degree in computer science, software development or other relevant fields is required;
• Relevant work experience, of which 2-4 years’ in software development on the Microsoft platform including Azure, is mandatory;
• Coding in one or more of languages, such as Python, JavaScript, R, Scala, or C#;
• Experience with Hadoop eco-system, data warehousing and business intelligence (BI) principles and tools including ETL, data modelling and visualization, is requred;
• Great communication skills and fluency in English as a working language.
• Experience with at least two of the following fields:
• Development of data ingest services;
• Developing and consuming RESTful API services;
• Service management experience;
• Experience with ETL toolsets (like Informatica or Microsoft);
• Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Unix/Linux system administration;
• Familiarity with scalable noSQL databases and search engines;
• Familiarity with different technology protocols like SFTP, MQTT, AMQP and other M2M protocols.
