Your Role and Responsibilities

Data Architect is responsible for expanding and optimizing the data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimizing dataflow and collection for cross functional teams. You will support software developers, database architects, data analysts and data scientists on data initiatives and ensure an optimal data delivery architecture that is consistent across all ongoing projects. You will be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems and products. You will be excited by the prospect of optimizing or even re-design.

The Big Data Architect works closely with the customer and solutions architects to translate customer’s business requirements into a Big Data solution. The Big Data Architect has deep knowledge of relevant technologies, understands the relationship between those technologies, and how they can be integrated and combined to effectively solve any given big data business problem. This person has the ability to design large-scale data processing systems for the enterprise and provide input on the architectural decisions including hardware/software/tools and cloud platforms. The Big Data Architect also understands the complexity of data and can design systems and models to handle variety of data types including structured, semi-structured and unstructured data, volume, velocity (including stream processing), and veracity. The Big Data Architect is also able to effectively address information governance and security issues associated with the systems.

The chosen candidate will take on the following responsibilities

• Provide thought guidance and drive architecture and the design of Big Data Information Management & Analytics solutions
• Design and implement scalable Big Data architecture solutions for various application needs
• Analyze multiple sources of structured and unstructured data to propose and design data architecture solutions for scalability, high availability, fault tolerance, and elasticity
• Set architectural vision and direction across a matrix of teams; develop conceptual, logical and physical design for various data types and large volumes
• Participate in strategic and tactical planning and design sessions and conduct “whiteboard” sessions with client to co-create solutions
• Deliver hands-on support to strategic and project-centric prototyping, proof-of-concept (POC), and solution prescriptions across emerging platforms
• Produce artifacts in support of reference architecture advocacy and implementation, including authoring documentation, white papers, and presentations/diagrams for dissemination to technical and business audiences
• Provide support in defining the scope and sizing of the work
• Work with domain experts to put together a delivery plan and stay on track with it

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

Experience:

• 8 – 10 years (or more) in client facing data architect/consultant roles
• Architecting solutions for Apache Hadoop/Cloudera/Hortonworks distributions
• Performance optimization of Hadoop platform and Big Data pipelines along with core activities like cluster setup/upgrades/operations
• Experience in scripting, automation, deployment, set up and installation, trouble shooting and fixing issues across platforms e.g., Python/Scala, shell scripting, knowledge on CI/CD tools like Git, Jenkins, Ansible
• Hands-on experience with databases, ETL, distributed & dedicated data processing, data lakes, data marts, data warehouse etc.

Technical Skills:

• Architecting large scale Big Data/Analytics solutions
• Design, build and deploy cloud solutions (Compute, Network, Storage, and Security)
• Good knowledge on Data modelling, Data Governance, Data Security and DevOps
• Good knowledge of ETL, Persistence, Data Lakes, Data Warehousing, Pub/Sub pipelines and Data Quality engineering
• Good knowledge of Big Data ecosystem, NoSQL and Relational Databases
• Knowledge of building analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics
• Assemble large, complex datasets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements
• Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements – automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
• Education & Certifications: (any combination of the following)
• College Degree in Computer Science or Data Science
• Certified Cloud Architect (Google Professional Cloud Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate, AWS Certified
• Solutions Architect Professional)

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

• Azure Data Engineer Certification
• AWS Certified Data Analytics Certification
• Google Cloud Prof Data Engineer Certification
• Cloudera Certified Processional – CCP Data Engineer
