Associate Analyst – Investment Performance Risk

Working with us, you will be responsible for:

The primary function of this position is to maintain, validate and analyze data used throughout the performance and risk reporting process. This position will also be involved in projects to improve, stabilize and transition data flows between internal systems. Another key aspect will be to report portfolio performance, characteristics, weights, attribution and risk statistics.

This position will also provide support in liaising with internal clients including Sales and Client Relationship Teams, Risk Managers, Investment Analysts as well as various compliance and legal teams. The analyst will collaborate frequently with Risk colleagues globally.

Daily tasks:

  • Identify and resolve data issues of low to moderate complexity impacting performance, characteristics, attribution and risk reporting.
  • Participate in larger projects to test data accuracy, flows and quality.
  • Build checks and tools to ensure a high level of quality for the whole risk and performance process.
  • Review portfolio performance, attribution and risk statistics by analyzing the accuracy and quality of the underlying data.
  • Ensure reports are delivered to the appropriate client(s) and/or provided via automated processes to downstream systems by the agreed upon date.
  • Create and run standard reports and queries.
  • Respond to ad-hoc requests for performance, characteristic and risk statistic information.
  • Provide commentary/explanations upon request for portfolio performance and attribution.
  • Review automated validation controls and complete issue resolution process.
  • Collaborate with global Risk team colleagues to leverage best practices and obtain support/advice.

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Have bachelor’s degree (ideally finance, accounting and/or business-related, math or other quantitative discipline)
  • Have 1-2 years of relevant investment industry experience (requires)
  • Have prior project management, investment management operations experience desired
  • Have prior investment performance, investment operations or fund accounting experience is viewed favorably
  • Have good understanding of accounting rules and systems
  • Have good understanding of databases and data flows
  • Have ability to work with large data sets
  • Have knowledge of statistical calculations
  • Have knowledge of financial instruments and markets
  • Have knowledge of source systems for data and ability to verify for accuracy
  • Have knowledge of proper English usage, grammar, spelling and vocabulary
  • Have strong quantitative abilities
  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Have strong attention to details
  • Have excellent analytical skills
  • Knows Microsoft Office: Access and Excel: Advanced
